Swallow, a trendy restaurant in the heart of Huntington Village was the lucky beneficiary of my visit this afternoon. I started off by taking a seat near the window which I can only imagine will be a huge draw come the warmer climate. Although it was dreary out, I wanted a light refreshing meal as to transport me towards the impending light and refreshing days that will soon visit Huntington.
There were plenty of items to choose from menu as it pertained to beverages and I chose to go with the Arnold Palmer minus the vodka. The drink after the first swallow packed a cold bitter punch. I realized quickly that the mixture of Lemonade, Brewed Tea, Mint and Orange needed to blended a bit better and so I took upon my self to swirl. Second swallow was pure perfection.
After perusing the menu which was made up small plates similar to tapas, I decided on the calamari and the wedge salad. The salad came out first and the presentation didn't disappoint. The fresh and crisp looking iceberg lettuce was adorned by tomatoes. bacon, blue cheese and buttermilk dressing. It was superb. The chef prepared it perfectly and the dressing left me wanting more. I honestly could have left after that, but I had calamari to consume. Consume I did! The calamari arrived in a Chinese box with chopsticks. Unique and yet fitting. I ate two and dumped half of the rest on my plate. I had to truly enjoy and savor what I was eating and that was not going to happen taking them out of the box. The calamari was tangy, it was spicy, it was sweet and it was scrumptious. That was quite possibly the best I've ever had. And I'm not saying that because I was hungry.
Although I only had two dishes and one beverage, if that was any indication of what Swallow has to offer, I cannot wait to return and swallow some more good fare. Next time you're looking for a bite to eat and or drink GO THERE! They have a nice bar area, happy hour beginning at 5 and a plethora of American beverage and food fare to choose from.
